His Eminence was ordained on August 15, 1940 from the major seminary of Montrèal. Until his death in 2007, Cardinal Gagnon held many positions of responsibility and authority within the Catholic Church. His obvious love for the Church and for its people was evident; his humility, sincerity and kindness were rays of light that encompassed those around him, drawing them to the love of God that he so sincerely lived.
Eternal Life is most grateful for the gift of His Eminence’s sharing in our lives. Even after becoming confined to a wheelchair, he made the difficult trip year after year from Montreal to Louisville for the Church Teaches Forum. From his sick-bed he continued to guide and counsel whenever he was asked. Everyone loved this holy and humble man of God. May he rest in peace in that Eternal Life for which we all were made.
